2026 NFL Draft scouting report: Jaydn Ott, Running Back, Oklahoma
· Yahoo Sports
Oklahoma's Jaydn Ott is next to receive his 2026 NFL Draft scouting report. The jury is still out on where Ott should land, as the tale of his college career is like that of Benjamin Button. He started off strong, but whitlered away as time went on, as injuries played a major role in this. With that being said, what does the report look like? Let's talk about it.
Ott, a former four-star recruit out of California, was the 23rd-ranked running back in the class and the number 22 overall prospect in the state. Ott would commit to Cal, where he would average 5.3 yards per carry and 20 rushing touchdowns. However, things would begin to sour, as an ankle injury sidelined him most of 2024, and after he transferred to Oklahoma for his final year, he kind of fell off the face of the earth. This season at OU, he would total just 385 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Jaydn Ott brings the thunder when he has the ball in his hands. He is like the bull in a china shop, constantly looking for contact, especially at the second level. He runs behind his pads, and defenders struggle to bring him down by themselves. The legs churn when met in a scrum, and always seem to fall forward when going down. His playstyle suits him best in an inside zone, power-run scheme.
But what I can't put my finger on is what happened this season. Was there something behind the scenes that we will never know? Was he banged up for almost the whole year? This production downturn is practically unheard of. Ott isn't particularly quick or fast, and has next to no skills as a receiver out of the backfield. Usually, if you have at least one of these three, you have a shot to be drafted, but missing all three is a tough hill to get over.
Jaydn Ott's collegiate story is curious to say the least. As an older prospect at 23, you have to wonder how many productive years you may get out of a day three pick. For me, Ott gets an undrafted grade, but I would be curious to bring him in to camp as a red-zone/goal-line guy to see if we can get something out of him.
