The Buffalo Sabres have to decide what to do with Alex Tuch.

The reality is that the decision may make itself.
The Sabres entered the Olympic break on fire. They've got a great chance to end their 14-year playoff drought.
Tuch is in the last year of his contract, but that may be irrelevant at this point. Can the Sabres really trade away a veteran as if they're a seller? They should be buying.
David Pagnotta reported Saturday that the Sabres "owe it to the fans" and should keep Tuch, effectively serving as their own "rental."

That certainly seems like the path that would keep Buffalo fans the happiest and keep the locker room the most connected.
Tuch is 29 years old, originally from Syracuse, N.Y.
This is his fifth season with the Sabres. Through 56 games, he has 22 goals and 26 assists (48 points).
Tuch had 67 points last season, 59 the year before and 79 the season before that.
Clearly, he's a reliable contributor since coming to Buffalo from Vegas.
The Sabres can't afford to give up Tuch and get worse this season. They've got a bright future regardless. The asset they get in a Tuch deal would be hard to be worth the loss they'd take right now.
It could still go either way, but Pagnotta's report indicates the Sabres are certainly at least thinking about the implications of it all and might end up keeping Tuch.
